Hathern Local History Society has invited Kathryn Hathern Local History Society has invited Kathryn Warner to give a talk on
Edward II, the Unconventional King and his meeting at the bridge over the
River Soar, upstream from County Bridge, with his cousin, the Earl Thomas of
Lancaster on 9th. August, 1318. Edward and his followers made a camp in
Hathern before the King met with his cousin to exchange the kiss of peace.
She will talk about new insights into the dramatic life of one of England’s
most unsuccessful kings, and discuss the mystery surrounding his possible
murder or possible survival for years afterwards in Italy
