About The Event
Throughout his tenure as Rector of Hathern Church from 1808 to 1859, the Reverend Edward Thomas March Phillips referred to Hathern as “a cage of every unclean beast.” Even to this day our village is referred to as Wicked Hathern.
Andrée Bagley has explored the goings on in our village during the 19th century in order to establish whether it really deserved this reputation.
The real and shocking truth will be presented at an illustrated talk in Hathern Church on Saturday 9th March 2024 on Crime and Punishment in Victorian Hathern.
Entry to this event is £3 which includes
refreshments.
